Meet Alissa Daire Nelson
First and foremost, I’m a proud mom of two students in this district. They are a junior and a senior at Mounds View High School.
I’m also a devoted wife. My husband and I have just celebrated our tenth anniversary and are more in love than the day we got married. When we married, my husband already owned a home in Shoreview. As a Mustang alum himself, he knew he wanted to come back to this community after college. On top of getting the chance to do life with this amazing man, the girls and I feel so lucky to have stumbled into the Mounds View School District and enroll at Turtle Lake Elementary in 1st and 2nd grades.
Professionally, I am the Founder and CEO of Daire 2 Succeed, located in downtown St. Paul, which I started in 2014. I get to work with an amazing team and through facilitation, interactive training, and group and individual coaching, with all levels of the organization, we get to work with organizations to create workplaces leaders and employees are proud to work in.
I hold a whole bunch of certifications related to the work I do that I won’t bore you to list, but what it means is that I’m really skilled at seeking out the best in people, finding common ground, even through tension and disagreement, and collaborating with others to find a better solution than any of us could create alone. There is no doubt that we are better together. It’s this skillset I’m most excited to bring to the School Board.
My Top 10 CliftonStrengthsⓇ are: Futuristic | Woo | Positivity | Activator | Strategic | Communication | Includer | Belief | Ideation | Connectedness
I’m an author, a professional speaker and a podcaster. Last school year, I got to help student athletes at Mounds View High School create the foundation for their own podcast, which will hopefully launch this school year. It was exciting to be a part of validating and amplifying their voices. Stay tuned for the launch of their podcast!
Prior to Daire 2 Succeed, I spent over a decade serving in healthcare, first as a Registered Dietitian (RD) and then as a Registered Nurse (RN).
I spent 15 years as a competitive gymnast, and with 40 (yes, 40) years of gymnastics experience under my belt. , I am now the head coach of Minneapolis Washburn’s High School Gymnastics team.
There is no more impactful work to be done in a community than that of a School Board Member.
It’s a role that I honor and take very seriously. Each decision the School Board makes directly impacts students, families, staff and the community.
I am THRILLED to be running for the position of School Board member in the Mounds View School District (ISD 621). It would be an honor to serve and represent you.
